As numerous American and Israeli news outlets reported this week, the Israeli government refuses to confirm or deny that the Biden administration is withholding weapons from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
As Breitbart News noted, several news outlets have confirmed that the United States is withholding 3,500 bombs from Israel, including 500-pound bombs and 2,000-pound bombs.
Israeli government spokeswoman Aby Heyman said she had seen “reports from anonymous sources on the American side” but had “nothing to add about these reports.”
Earlier this week, Israel did not even acknowledge the report.
Heimann also said that Israeli efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza continue despite the Israeli attack in Rafah. “Despite our best efforts, Kerem Shalom and the Erez crossing, which was destroyed by Hamas on October 7, both remain open,” Hyman said, adding that these are the nine entry points for humanitarian supplies entering Gaza. He pointed out that there are only two of them.
He added that Israel continues to receive reports of aid being “left unallocated” on the Gaza side of the border.
Heimann noted that Israeli forces are active in “certain areas” east of Rafah. He said the Israeli Defense Forces’ seizure of the Rafah border on Monday would not prevent the flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, but would instead prevent Hamas from smuggling weapons into the area.
He also reiterated Israel’s goals, saying: “Our war objectives remain the same: to destroy Hamas, to bring the hostages home and to ensure that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.”
Heyman commented on Israel’s control of the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphia route along the Gaza Strip-Egypt border in hostage negotiations that resumed in Cairo, Egypt, after Hamas insisted it would accept a ceasefire. , agreed that Israel’s influence is increasing due to military advances.
“We will continue to maintain military pressure on Hamas,” he added.[w]Both military pressure and diplomatic channels were needed to accomplish the November hostage deal. ”
“I can see that they are feeling the ‘military pressure,'” Heiman said, adding that Israel “hopes and prays that an agreement can be developed within a framework that is acceptable to Israel.” Obviously, there can be no talk of ending the war and keeping Hamas in power. ”
