We Will Work with Democrats on DREAMers Plan

President-elect Donald Trump said Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press” that he would work with Democrats on Dreamers, immigrants who are brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents and may remain in the country.

Host Kristen Welker asked, “What happens to DREAMers who were brought to this country illegally as children?” You said once in 2017 that we don't need to worry too much about deportation. Should they be worried now? ”

“The Dreamers are going to come later, and we have to do something about them. They're people who were brought here at a very young age, and many of them are middle-aged,” Trump said. . They don't even speak their own language. What do we do?”

Mr. Welker asked, “What does that mean?”

“We're going to work with the Democrats to come up with a plan. But the Democrats have made it very difficult to do anything. Republicans are very open to DREAMers,” Trump said. DREAMers, we're talking about years ago. They were brought to this country many years ago. Some of them are no longer young people. And in many cases, they are successful. They have great jobs, sometimes small businesses, sometimes large businesses. We need to do something about them. It won't happen.”

Welker asked, “Do you want them to stay?” that's what you're saying. ”

Trump said, “I think so. I'd like to be able to work things out. Things should have worked out in the last three or four years, but they didn't. I think Biden was able to do that because he had some control over Congress. He could have done something, but they didn't do it. I never understood why. It seems like they always wanted to do it. I think we can work together to solve something.”
