Brad Arnold, the lead vocalist of the rock band 3 Doors Down, announced on Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. “That’s not true, but we serve the mighty God and he can overcome anything,” he stated, adding, “It’s not my time.”
Arnold shared this news in a video message to fans on the band’s Instagram account. “I got sick a few weeks ago, went to the hospital, and found out I have clear cell renal cell carcinoma that has metastasized to my lungs.”
“It’s stage 4, which isn’t great. But you know what? We serve the mighty God, and he can overcome anything.”
Regrettably, Arnold mentioned that 3 Doors Down will be canceling their tour with Creed due to his diagnosis.
“I’m going to have to make you cancel the tour this summer. Sorry,” he said, requesting prayer support from fans. “I want you to lift me up in prayer every time you think of it.”
“And I think it’s time to hear a bit of my own ‘That’s not my time,’ right?” Arnold added.

“Thank you so much. God loves you. We love you. We love you.”
In his Instagram caption, Arnold expressed gratitude for the memories he has made, stating, “Now I think, ‘It’s not my time.’
Scott Stapp, the frontman of Creed, commented on Arnold’s post, saying, “If anyone has the faith and power to face this fight, it’s your brother.”
“You and your family will be in my prayers every day,” Stapp continued. “We can do everything through Christ. I believe I speak for all of us—we are lifting you up in prayer, believing in your perfect healing without doubt! I love you.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC) is the most common type of kidney cancer, affecting the tubules that filter blood.
“Typically, treatment involves surgery to remove either the tumor or the entire kidney,” though additional treatments may be necessary depending on the cancer’s stage when diagnosed.
