The Jets have been playing numbers all week, but I still believe the team has a chance to get their season back and make the playoffs.
It seems silly going into Sunday's game against the Colts, but even at 3-7, the Jets are two games out of the AFC's final playoff spot.
“The important thing is that while people are tired of talking about it, the math still gives us an opportunity,” tight end Tyler Conklin said. “I think we understand that as a team and we know we have to stick to the process and have a good few weeks of practice and carry that over into Sunday.”
Fans are tired of hearing about how good the Jets were in practice.
Time to watch it on Sunday.
They looked terrible on both fronts in last week's 31-6 loss to Arizona.
Now they take on the 4-6 Colts at MetLife Stadium.
The Colts arrive with a problem to solve.
Indianapolis will start quarterback Anthony Richardson.
Richardson started the first four games, missed two with a hip injury, then started two more and was benched for two games in place of Joe Flacco.
Richardson had a tough second season, completing just 44 percent of his passes, seven interceptions, and just four touchdowns.
He is the second-youngest starting quarterback in the NFL at 22 years old.
The Jets will compete with their oldest starting QB in 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers.
The future Hall of Famer looked doomed this season.
He threw three second-half touchdown passes against the Texans two weeks ago, but none against the Cardinals last week.
“This is a chance for us to go into the bye week in a good mood, get everyone healthy and then realistically look at the remaining six games,” Rodgers said. “I think there's a lot to look forward to, but we have to win this weekend.”
The Jets have lost six of seven games, and it feels like the season is almost over.
They faced a lot of adversity this season, but most people ignored it.
Still, the weak AFC gives us hope.
“The verdict is still out on this season, but I think it's always difficult when they're singing praises and tearing down buildings outside,” Rodgers said. “That's a significant challenge.”
