South Carolina authorities made a horrifying discovery Friday morning in the family's solemn Greer home.
The Spartanburg Sheriff's Office responded to the Marilyn Perry Lane home after receiving a call from a neighbor.
“On arrival there was an initial language barrier, but once it was addressed, deputies entered the residence and found three deceased people inside the house,” the sheriff's office said in a press release. “In this early stage, the agency does not feel that there is a threat to the public.”
The local coroner's office confirmed the identities of the three deceased deceased with Fox Carolina, as Samantha Samarell, 9, Lina Maria Samarell, 45, and Richard Samarell, 54.

The sheriff's office said other children who lived in the house when the three families died were at school, adding, “The agency will be very grateful for the media coverage and some compassion in social media comments.”

“More than that [piecemeal] Answers to follow-up questions from individual media will be provided in subsequent releases,” the Sheriff's Office said.
According to Richard Samarrell's Facebook page, the family was originally from New Jersey and previously worked as manager of Bloomberg LP. Lina Samarel was originally from Colombia and worked as a therapist.

Lina Samarell's professional biography states that she “is a psychiatric health nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner, experiencing in a variety of healthcare settings, including mental illness and outpatient psychiatry for adolescents in health and wellness services.” Her Facebook profile said she had previously worked for the Veterans Affairs Bureau.
