Titans Release Defensive Lineman After Incident

Jordan Elliott, a defensive lineman recently released by the Titans, reportedly tried to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle after a dispute with a teammate last Thursday. This altercation led to the team deciding to cut him on Tuesday, as per various reports.

The Titans merely referred to an unspecified “incident” that took place at the team facility on October 15 while announcing their decision to part ways with the 28-year-old, who sat out the Week 6 game against the Colts.

Elliott had just signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Titans during free agency. Sources indicate that he confronted offensive lineman JC Latham during practice that day, as reported by KPRC2 in Houston.

After being told to leave, Elliott allegedly took off his pads and exited the training facility, heading straight to his car. A to Z Sports noted that he left the locker room visibly upset.

Surveillance footage reportedly caught him trying to access his gun, but teammate John Franklin-Myers managed to convince him not to proceed with that action, as per KPRC2.

A source suggested that Elliott has been grappling with family issues that spilled over into his professional life. Meanwhile, the Metro Nashville Police Department stated to A to Z Sports that no incident report had been filed.

“This was so crazy,” an NFL insider shared with KPRC2. “Jordan has been having a lot of problems outside of work, and obviously, he brought that to practice. There’s really no reason for him to act out like that, and it seemed pretty wild to everyone. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and it’s over now.”

On the Wednesday and Thursday leading up to his release, Elliott practiced without any injury designation, but he missed Friday’s practice due to personal reasons, which the team categorized as non-injury related.

Last Friday, Coach Robert Saleh mentioned that Elliott was “dealing with some personal stuff,” which contributed to his being inactive for that weekend’s game.

Having followed Saleh from the 49ers to the Titans, Elliott had played in all five previous games this season, starting in one and accumulating a total of 11 tackles.

His NFL journey began with the Browns, where he played for four seasons after being drafted in the third round of 2020, followed by two seasons in San Francisco.

The circumstances surrounding his release from the Titans certainly cast doubt on his future in the league.
