GovTrack, an organization that tracks congressional voting records, confirmed to Fox News Digital that within the past two weeks it had removed a 2019 webpage that ranked Kamala Harris as the “most liberal” U.S. senator that year.

The self-described “Government Transparency Website” rated Harris “the most liberal compared to all senators” in 2019, ahead of then-Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

However, the rankings webpage, which was featured prominently in the news during the 2020 election, was recently deactivated; the link now displays the message “Page not found.” The Internet Archive The page was removed between July 10 and July 23, but some users of X claim that the page was still up as of July 22.

President Biden suspended his own campaign on July 21 and announced that he was endorsing Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination. Harris announced in the early hours of July 23 that she had secured enough delegates to clinch the nomination at next month’s Democratic National Convention.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, GovTrack founder Joshua Tauberer said the pages were removed because the company “a few years ago” decided to move away from rating lawmakers on a single year basis and instead only rate them based on the two-year legislative session.

“We determined that our limited one-year data was not sufficient to paint a reliable picture of lawmakers’ activity, especially given the ebb and flow of the congressional calendar, and therefore would not be a useful tool for our users or the American public,” Tauberer said. “We subsequently removed the previously public one-year statistics for the same reasons.”

Tauberer confirmed to Fox News Digital that the page was removed within the past two weeks, but did not provide a specific date. When asked why the page wasn’t removed when single-year report cards were phased out years ago, he said, “We were focused on the more impactful aspects of our work.”

Tauberer said the organization still issues report cards based on two congressional sessions, and told Fox News Digital that Harris existing In 2020, her webpage ranked her as “the furthest politically left compared to Senate Democrats” in the 116th Congress. She was ranked as the second most liberal senator. In the full Senate He supports independent candidate Sanders.

At some point in October 2020, GovTrack changed the wording of its rankings from “most liberal” to “most politically left.”

The group said its analysis is based on senators’ “legislative actions” and their track record of introducing or co-sponsoring bipartisan bills, and “takes into account only a small part of reality.”

A 2019 analysis showed that Harris “participates least frequently” in bipartisan legislation compared to Senate Democrats.

AXIOS faces community backlash after claiming Harris is “never emperor of the borders”

The Trump campaign cited the assessment after Biden picked Harris as his running mate in the 2020 presidential election, refuting a New York Times op-ed that described Harris as a “pragmatic moderate.”

“Reminder: GovTrac ranked Sen. Kamala Harris the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate in 2019, further to the left than Elizabeth Warren, Ed Markey, and even Bernie Sanders,” the campaign said in an email in August 2020. “No matter what the New York Times says, Kamala Harris is a radical left-liberal.”

Harris’ 2019 approval rating is once again coming under scrutiny this week after Biden released a shock letter on Sunday informing Americans that he would endorse Harris as his successor and answer growing calls for him to end his reelection campaign.

Harris confirmed her candidacy for the Democratic nomination, saying in a statement, “I am honored to receive the President’s endorsement, and I intend to seek and win this nomination.”

As Harris moves closer to the Democratic nomination, her allies in the media are beginning to suggest it’s unfair to push the thorny issue of illegal immigration onto her.

Axios came under particular criticism on Wednesday for appearing to contradict its own previous reporting when it published a story claiming that Harris is not a “border czar.” The outlet was even forced to update the story to acknowledge that it had “incorrectly” called Harris “the border czar” in the past.
