Wedding of paramedics takes place with ambulance as backdrop: ‘Felt only right’

Two emergency workers recently got married in an unusual wedding setting.

Wayne Marshall, 37, of Castle Douglas Station, and his new wife Sarah Marshall, of Newton Stewart Station, were married at the Cleebridge House Hotel in the back of an ambulance.

The couple both work for the Scottish Ambulance Service in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

“It was a wonderful day and a great time to spend time with friends, family and co-workers, past and present,” Wayne Marshall said of the couple's experience, SWNS reported.

He said, “The whole day was great.”

First, the couple “successfully fooled the guests into thinking they had lost their ring, only for one of them to find it under a chair,” he said.

Wayne Marshall has worked in the health service for more than eight years, five years as a technician and three years as a paramedic, the same source reported.

“I met him through the service, so I felt it was natural to call an ambulance to take a photo,” he said.

SWNS also noted that the couple had access to an inactive ambulance in the background.

“Thankfully, an off-duty colleague was willing to take the opportunity to bring in a non-operating vehicle,” Mr Marshall said.

“Each of us has a deep understanding of our work; [its] I'll try. ”

The two met through work and quickly became friends.

Sarah Marshall said of their relationship and sharing the same job: “We each have a deep understanding of the job and the challenges that can be faced during a difficult shift.”

He added: “Our friends and colleagues are not surprised and are supportive of our relationship.”

She said: “They both felt equally at home at every station and were happy that as many of their colleagues as possible came to the wedding.”

Wayne and Sarah Marshall were accompanied on their wedding day by the couple's cockapoo, Archie.

According to SWNS, the happy day was attended by not only family and friends but also their cockapoo, Archie, who was dressed appropriately for a Scottish wedding.
