Something else rather shocking happened last night too – Chelsea won a game in straightforward fashion, even if it was against the equivalent of a League One side, meaning no disrespect to Swiss stragglers Servette FC.

The first week of the Premier League season was a tad underwhelming in my humble opinion, but this week we’ve got Brighton v Manchester United, Aston Villa v Arsenal and Wolves v Chelsea which could all provide some upsets. The Championship rarely disappoints either. Here, we’ll keep you across all the previews, press conferences and, of course, those precious pieces of transfer tittle-tattle. Probably some confirmed deals, too. Let’s go!

Good news for Manchester United and West Ham Here’s a look at the PSG squad that takes on Montpellier tonight, which does not include Manuel Ugarte, who is (boringly) edging closer to a move to United, and also misses out Hammers target Carlos Soler.

“Super awesome! Age doesn’t matter!” – Fabian Hürzeler has already released a Europop anthem in his honour by high-energy duo The Pit Stop Boys. Enjoy!

Fabian Hürzeler of Brighton Hürzeler may be the youngest manager in Premier League history but he’s not afraid to turn to others for experience, he admitted before yesterday’s game against Manchester United. Former Red Devil Danny Welbeck is one of the Brighton players who is older than Hürzeler, while James Milner is seven years older than Hürzeler. The German manager has no shortage of managerial inspiration…

“You can’t copy someone else’s philosophy,” Hürzeler said. “I want to ultimately develop my own philosophy and bring my own ideas to the pitch.”

“But there is no end to learning, so I’m always looking to learn from other coaches. If I work in Germany, of course I’ll follow a German coach who has worked in the Premier League.”

“Jurgen Klopp is a big role model for me. [Thomas] Tuchel deserves credit for that, and Julian Nagelsmann has done an incredible job at such a young age.

“I try to take some elements from what a lot of German coaches do, but you can also take those elements in the Premier League if you look at how Pep Guardiola and Arteta have turned their teams into world-class sides.”

“I love watching football and I love learning, so I try to learn something from every coach and every opportunity.”

Speaking of transfer rumors…

A large preview piece. Are the pressure mounting for Arsenal and Villa’s forwards? Are there more new additions in the Premier League? Is Sean Dyche already under pressure at Everton? Let’s take a look.

preamble

Happy Friday everyone! With the Premier League finally back on track and the summer transfer window nearing its final week, there’s no shortage of interesting news to keep us all satisfied.

There was something else rather shocking last night, as Chelsea easily beat Swiss underdogs Servette FC, despite being a League One side of equal standing, and no disrespect meant to them.

The first week of the Premier League season has been, in my personal opinion, a bit disappointing, but this week we have Brighton vs Manchester United, Aston Villa vs Arsenal and Wolves vs Chelsea, all of which could see upsets. The Championship rarely disappoints either. Here we bring you all the previews, press conferences and, of course, your precious transfer rumours. Perhaps some deals have been finalised as well. Let’s get started!
