Divorce Filed by Weezer Bassist’s Wife Following Police Incident
Jillian Schreiner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Schreiner, has initiated divorce proceedings, just eight months after he faced arrest for allegedly firing at a police officer in Los Angeles.
In court documents filed Tuesday, Jillian, 52, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the main reason for the split. They’ve been married since November 2005 and share two adopted children, who are currently 17 and 13.
Known by her maiden name, Jillian Lauren, she is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their children, along with spousal support. Interestingly, she’s also blocked Scott from receiving any spousal support, according to reports.
Details regarding their separation and any premarital relations remain private.
Scott was hospitalized on April 9 with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, which occurred during a standoff with police. Officers had been searching for three suspects involved in a hit-and-run near their Eagle Rock residence when the incident unfolded.
Scott reportedly emerged from his home armed and fired at the police before being shot in the shoulder and retreating inside. He later surrendered to authorities and initially faced attempted murder charges, which were later downgraded to other firearm-related charges.
After posting a $1 million bail, he pleaded not guilty to two felony counts. In September, a judge deemed him “eligible and appropriate” for a two-year mental health diversion program that could allow him to avoid prison time, provided he meets specific requirements.
The terms of the program stipulate that he must abstain from drugs and alcohol, participate in weekly therapy sessions, submit to random drug testing, and attend at least three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings each week. Additionally, he is prohibited from possessing firearms or knives during this period.
