We’re Excited to Have a Few More Years with Legendary Broadcaster Chris Berman

Chris Berman is making a return!

When ESPN launched, Chris Berman was among the first hires, marking the beginning of what would become an iconic career. Interestingly, he’ll still be with the network for its 50th anniversary in 2029.

Recently, he signed a multi-year contract extension to celebrate this milestone. Now, at 70 years old in 2025, he’s guaranteed a spot in the Super Bowl coverage that ESPN will broadcast in 2027.

Reflecting on his journey, Berman shared, “I joined ESPN at 24, fresh out of college. My aim was to host a late-night sports wrap-up.” He added, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d still be here at 70, but I guess I’ve become part of this network’s history.”

In past years, Berman was the host for ABC’s Super Bowl pre-game shows in 2000, 2003, and 2006. Notably, 2006 marked ABC Sports’ last broadcast of the “Big Game.” The 2027 Super Bowl will be a special occasion as it will be the first time ESPN takes the lead.

Legendary ESPN anchor Chris Berman, who joined the network shortly after its launch on September 7, 1979, has extended his contract. In 2029, he will celebrate his 50th anniversary with ESPN.
