"We're Going to Take Over Washington, DC": Dana White Discusses UFC Event at the White House

UFC President Announces White House Championship Plans

Dana White, the president of UFC, recently spoke on Fox News, sharing insights about exciting events planned for the White House. President Trump announced in July his intention to host a UFC Championship match on the White House grounds next year, coinciding with America’s 250th birthday celebrations.

During his appearance on a segment with Brett Baier, White detailed that the UFC event at the White House will have live music, outdoor seating, and large screens, creating a festive atmosphere for fans who will gather on the South Lawn to watch the fight. “We’ll have a stage for live bands all day, and people can bring blankets, relax, and enjoy the fight,” he explained. White emphasized that the UFC is set to take over Washington, DC for that week, with plans for various activities, including a fan engagement event.

White recounted how he lobbied for Trump to host this UFC event at the White House, saying, “One day, he expressed his love for the White House and his desire to bring Americans together for various events there. It didn’t take much convincing on my end.” He added that they are still organizing seating arrangements, aiming for less than 5,000 attendees due to space limitations, with considerations for the weight on the grass. “We’ll have this big arch so people can see the monument,” he noted.

According to White, Ivanka Trump will be instrumental in planning the event. Beyond the main setup on the South Lawn, a massive viewing party in the ellipse is expected to accommodate up to 85,000 fans. “Trump said Ivanka would handle the logistics, and she assured me not to compromise the surroundings,” he remarked.

White has maintained a close relationship with Trump, even campaigning for him during the 2024 election. Over the years, Trump has made appearances at various fight nights, receiving warm applause and chants of “America” from fans. After the election, he joined UFC 309 in November, where fan excitement was palpable.
