‘We’re living in crazy times’: Former professional female boxer slams USA Boxing’s transgender policy

A former professional boxing competitor has spoken out against the sport’s governing body, which allows biological males to compete against females. fox news digital.

Cary Williams argued that allowing biological males to compete against females could result in serious injuries and deprive female boxers of certain opportunities.

“When I heard that transgender people would be allowed to box women, I couldn’t believe it,” Williams said.

“I know this happens in many sports, and this is not right at any level. But when it comes to stories of people punching each other in the face, body, and head, I was really surprised. .”

american boxing I was criticized for something recently. transgender policyThis allows biological males to fight females as long as they adhere to certain parameters, including testosterone levels and completion of sex surgery.

The parameters are:

The athlete has declared her gender identity to be female and has completed gender reassignment surgery.

For at least four years after surgery, athletes have quarterly hormone testing and provide USA Boxing documentation of their hormone levels.

Athletes must demonstrate that their total serum testosterone level has been less than 5 nmol/L for at least 48 months prior to their first competition (longer periods may be determined on a case-by-case basis). should be based on a confidential assessment (whether 48 months is a sufficient period of time to minimize an advantage in women’s competition).

The athlete’s serum total testosterone level must remain below 5 nmol/L throughout the period required to qualify for the female category.

Compliance with these conditions will be monitored by testing at the athlete’s expense. In the event of a violation, the athlete’s eligibility to compete in women’s competitions will be suspended for 12 months. Testosterone levels will then need to be retested.

Mr Williams expressed concern that women could be seriously injured if the new rules are allowed to continue. She told me a story about when she was 30 years old and she was preparing for a contest. She sparred with a 16-year-old boy and quickly discovered the differences between men and women in the ring.

“I was preparing for a fight, and at the time there were a lot of teenage boys on the boxing team at the gym. “There weren’t that many women doing that.” “The sport was starting up then. So I was sparring with 16-year-old boys, and you know, they were all still looking down on me. “I was doing it,” Williams explained.

“Even though they were boys, they were still disrespectful to me. And he just threw a body shot and broke one of my ribs. It was a hairline, but he died. And he didn’t mean it to be like that.” I thought, wow, that’s like the power behind a teenage boy. ”

“I could never imagine being beaten up by a grown man. So that experience takes me to a whole other level of thinking, which is, are they really going to allow men to go out?” “Being there and surrounding the box with women was just deadly.”

Williams went on to say that she never thought men could compete with women in sports.[w]We are living in crazy times right now. ”

“There’s no way a man could get into a boxing ring and box with a woman,” Williams said. “No matter what, if you were born a man, you’re a man. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve gone through a transition or not.”

“I think most people I communicate with feel the same way. But a lot of people are worried about speaking out. You know, we live in a weird cancel culture. I think that’s why a lot of people don’t want to talk about it.” It’s really sad to express an opinion on this matter. Because more people need to stand up on this issue.. ”
