We’ve Gone Beyond Sanctuary Law I Signed, Some Cities Went ‘Way, Way Beyond’

In an interview with Sacramento's ABC10 published Thursday, former California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) said his state had exceeded the original standards of the sanctuary state law he signed and that “there are many places like San Francisco… “Parts of the city are in a terrible state of deterioration.” It goes beyond their efforts to build a wall that approximates the separation of state and federal governments. ”

Mr Brown said:[T]His bill, which I signed, had many exceptions. In other words, people convicted of violent or serious crimes receive no so-called “sanctuary” benefits. So it was a matter of letting state officials handle issues at the state level and not trying to play like Texas. [as] If they are federal employees. I believe that subsequent legislation has further expanded its scope. Some cities, like San Francisco, are far ahead in efforts to build walls, with close to separation of state and federal governments. I think that's going to be difficult. But now Democrats are responding by saying they need to control the border and have a more regular process for admitting immigrants. ”

Brown also said he does not believe California is violating federal law.
