Thanksgiving Celebrations Behind Bars
Surprisingly, even those facing serious charges can partake in Thanksgiving festivities while incarcerated. Notorious figures like United Healthcare CEO killer Luigi Mangione, sex offender Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was involved with Jeffrey Epstein, will have the opportunity to enjoy holiday meals in federal prisons.
At three federal institutions, inmates will be served traditional Thanksgiving fare this Thursday. For instance, the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, which houses Mangione, torturers Howard Rubin, and sex traffickers Tal and Oren Alexander, has confirmed it will feature roast turkey, mashed potatoes, and brown gravy on its lunch menu.
Meanwhile, Fort Dix in New Jersey, where Sean Combs is serving time for transporting prostitutes, will offer an array of dishes including cornbread dressing, baked sweet potatoes, and festive desserts. It’s worth noting that Fort Dix has confirmed its plan for a sumptuous lunch spread.
Then there’s the Bryan Correctional Facility in Texas, known for its relatively lighter environment, where Maxwell, scammer Jen Shah, and former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes are currently awaiting sentencing. They’re in for a treat with options like turkey, ham, and various sides for their Thanksgiving meal.
Interestingly, all these facilities will also provide non-meat alternatives, adding a bit of variety for those who might prefer something different. While Fort Dix and MDC will serve their festive meals at lunchtime, details on the offerings at Bryan remain unclear.
Luigi Mangione, just 27, is currently awaiting trial for his alleged involvement in a high-profile murder case and could face severe consequences if found guilty. He has claimed innocence amidst the challenging conditions at the Brooklyn facility, which has faced issues like power outages and unsatisfactory food quality.
The Alexander brothers, like Mangione, are also at the Brooklyn facility, facing serious charges related to drugging and assaulting numerous women. Additionally, Howard Rubin is being held there under suspicion of torturing women in a disturbing setting.
Other notable inmates include Ghislaine Maxwell, R. Kelly, and various figures from the world of finance and entertainment awaiting trial or serving sentences. Combs, at 56, is set to serve a 50-month term after being found guilty of charges related to prostitution, although he was acquitted of more severe allegations in a highly publicized trial.
The prison environment at FPC Bryan, on the other hand, has earned a more lenient reputation, with amenities like fitness options and classes giving it a “Club Fed” nickname. Recently, Maxwell’s appeal on her conviction was denied, and she continues to serve her 20-year sentence.
Jen Shah, sentenced for a telemarketing scheme targeting the elderly, is also in custody in Texas and is expected to return home for the holidays soon. Elizabeth Holmes, once a celebrated figure in Silicon Valley, is serving time after being convicted of fraud related to her company’s misleading technology claims.
