Dr. Joshua Gonzalez, a board-certified urologist and specialist in sexual medicine, reveals that his clinic performs such procedures several times each week.

“Most of my patients come in looking to enhance their size a bit, often to boost their confidence in intimate situations,” Dr. Gonzalez notes. “Some have felt inadequate for various reasons—even if a partner made an offhand comment about their size—but for many, it’s more about battling personal insecurities they’ve carried for a while.”

“We use dermal fillers that have been around for decades in facial treatments to enhance the penis, primarily increasing girth,” explains Dr. Gonzalez.

The procedure starts with numbing the area using a few small injections—just a quick pinch, really. After that, hyaluronic acid filler is injected under the fascia, the connective tissue layers that support the internal erectile tubes.

The whole process typically spans 30 to 60 minutes and requires 2-3 visits over several weeks. Afterward, patients usually return every 12-24 months for maintenance, though some of Dr. Gonzalez’s patients have experienced results lasting 2-3 years.

The quantity of filler depends on how much expansion the patient desires. Many observe their penis becoming “girthier” both when flaccid and erect. Dr. Gonzalez adds that apart from a bit of swelling for a few weeks, the penis shouldn’t feel significantly different.

The type of filler is crucial as well. While HA is generally safe, permanent fillers like silicone or paraffin can lead to serious issues like tissue death, deformity, and complications that might require surgery. So, it’s vital to be fully informed about what materials are being used.

Dr. Gonzalez suggests that, if performed by a skilled injector familiar with penile anatomy, sensation shouldn’t change. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive research on long-term effects, with most studies involving small sample sizes and limited follow-up data.

As with any procedure, considering the risks is essential—and weighing whether the added girth is worthwhile.

How Does Sex Change After the Procedure?

After receiving penis filler, patients need to wait at least 10 days before resuming sexual activity. Once they do, the experience might transform in unexpected ways.
