Trump’s Deportation Promises and Current Figures
One key aspect of Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign is his commitment to mass deportations, claiming that the Biden administration would be responsible for sending millions of illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin.
Recent reports indicate that since January 2025, nearly one million individuals have been deported. This data, however, seems to spark varied opinions.
On Blaze TV, host Steve Deace expressed satisfaction with the current deportation statistics. He pointed out, “Given the court challenges and other obstacles, this is significant progress. Also, considering how soft the Republicans can be, it’s encouraging.”
But, not everyone shares his enthusiasm. Some conservatives have voiced discontent, feeling that the mass deportations they anticipated aren’t materializing. Deace shared feedback from friends who believe that what’s being done isn’t sufficient, saying, “Some feel this ‘dog is not going to hunt,’ and expect more significant actions.”
He humorously added, “What’s mass to one person could just be me, right?”
Mr. Diace engaged his co-hosts, asking them which group they would align with—those satisfied with the deportation numbers or those who feel it’s lacking.
Co-host Oelzen expressed a less optimistic view, stating, “I honestly think, ‘This dog isn’t going to hunt.’ Nevertheless, I’m thankful for the efforts being made so far.” He illustrated his concern by mentioning places like Dearborn, Michigan, where he believes it should be quiet, suggesting that local conditions should be a wake-up call.
Aaron, another co-host, shifted the focus a bit, highlighting the difficulty in getting an accurate grasp on the numbers due to various government shutdowns in recent months. He noted that the actual rates of deportation feel “far off” from what they need to be.
“So, to put it in classic Republican terms, we seem to be just preventing new issues from arising rather than effectively dismantling the old system,” Diace concluded.
“Trump is likely to extend that framework similar to what previous Republicans have done, but that doesn’t quite inspire the level of change that is really essential. Would you agree with that?” he asked.
“Absolutely,” Oelzen replied.
