What the Giants need to figure out this offseason

There are periods of swirling action and periods of less action, but inaction rarely takes over the world of the NFL. With the Super Bowl reenactment of the Chiefs championship game in the rearview mirror, we’re officially in the early stages of the NFL offseason. Think of this as the calm before the annual storm that free agency and the NFL Draft land.

If the team remains the same, it will regress, so there will always be topics to discuss. Addressing these topics is even more urgent for the Giants, who are coming off a disappointing season (6-11) and are not considered a true championship contender.

Here are five issues that matter to the Giants and their supporters.

What are the quarterback’s short-term and long-term plans?

The team’s goal was to get Daniel Jones back to full health and had hoped the position would be finalized a year ago when Jones signed a four-year contract worth $160 million. In addition to a poor 2023 season, the Giants consider Jones a medical risk due to two other worrisome injuries: another neck issue and a torn ACL. There’s every reason to believe his knee will heal and be ready for the start of the season.
