Belgian Grand Prix Sprint Results
Max Verstappen clinched victory in the Formula 1 sprint race during the Belgian Grand Prix on Saturday. However, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri from McLaren will take the lead for the main event later today, which promises to be crucial.
Norris secured pole position after a strong lap in the final qualifying session, with his teammate Piastri also in the mix, as they both navigate the competitive landscape of the Formula 1 drivers’ championship. In the earlier sprint race, Verstappen finished first but was closely followed by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who managed to finish just 0.003 seconds behind him in third place.
In a notable performance, Alex Albon achieved the best qualifying result of the season for Williams. Meanwhile, George Russell, who had won the previous year’s Belgian Grand Prix, found himself in sixth place after his Mercedes W15 fell below the required weight limits.
Tsunoda also shone with a strong qualifying effort since joining Red Bull. The new team principal, Laurent Mekies, decided to use Tsunoda’s upgraded floor instead of saving it for Verstappen, showcasing a strategic shift.
“For Yuki, this has been a significant improvement throughout the weekend, so it’s encouraging to see him qualify well,” Mekies remarked after qualifying. He noted that the decision to upgrade Tsunoda’s car was a calculated risk that paid off, improving both his confidence and performance.
