‘Wheel of Fortune’ fans poke fun at contestant’s incorrect Christmas answer

Social media is buzzing about recent mistakes on “Wheel of Fortune.”

Tuesday's Christmas-themed episode of the popular game show featured the contestants' latest mistakes. When trying to solve a puzzle in the “Same Letters” category, contestant Phil McManus was faced with a board that read “Chocolate Chestnut and Chinese”.

McManus started strong, filling in all but two letters. And after purchasing “I,” there were only two letters left to solve the puzzle. He then guessed “chocolate, chestnuts, and chicken,” which was incorrect.

The incorrect guess left room for another contestant, Matt, to correctly guess “chocolate, chestnuts and chimney” as the correct answer.

Fans of the show immediately took to social media to share their reactions to the speculation.

“That was my shopping list last weekend.” one fan wrote X, formerly known as Twitter. Another user wrote: “When I think of chocolate and chestnuts, the next thing I think of is chicken.”

A third user wrote: “Did that guy look at the puzzle and say chocolate, chestnuts and chicken?? A Christmas puzzle?!? #wof #wheelofFortune.”

This isn't the first time a contestant's incorrect answers have caused fans to tease them on social media. In November, Will Jordan, a veteran police officer and former Coast Guardsman from Connecticut, incorrectly answered a puzzle that asked him to buy himself a sausage, but the correct answer was to give him a round of applause. It was.

At the time, one fan wrote, “Wheel of Fortune isn't playing very well here, but I like the position of this guy's stomach,” while another wrote, “Thanks Will, I ate it tonight! “I ate a whole pound of hot Italian sausage for dinner.” With pasta and vodka sauce! ”

Speaking to Maggie Sajak on the game show's Instagram page after the show, Jordan told the social media correspondent, “I just went blank.”

“I'll tell you, when the lights came on, Star, Ryan Seacrest, Vanna White, I just went blank,” he said. “But if your retired dad is watching this show, drinking beer and laughing, then it was worth it.”

Maggie's father, Pat Sajak, is best known for hosting the popular game show for 41 seasons from 1981 to 2024, with his last show airing in June.
