When you see the headline “Google Apologizes for Creating Racially Diverse Nazis,” you might start to wonder if you’re living in the Twilight Zone.
Dave Landau can’t help but laugh at the sheer absurdity of the ordeal, especially the images of “Asian women” and “Native Americans from beyond Germany” in Nazi garb.
When someone asked Gemini, Google’s new AI feature, to create an image of a Nazi in Germany, here’s the image it produced:
“With everything going on with AI, Google decided to come out with its own AI. You can input almost anything historical and it will make it diverse. That’s a good thing. “Except for the Nazis,” he laughed. 1 /4 Black Garrett.
Gemini was reportedly programmed to do not have While racial and gender stereotypes have become more prevalent, there have clearly been some issues when it comes to creating historical images. When asked to create an image of America’s Founding Fathers, it did the same thing and featured different races, which, you know, is…not accurate.
People were clearly upset, and some accused the platform of intentionally avoiding producing white people, which the company of course denied.
However, Google issued an apology saying that “Gemini provides inaccuracies in some depictions of historical image generation” and that the company is “working to immediately improve these depictions.” he claimed.
For now, Gemini is blocked from generating images of humans until the issue is resolved.
