Caitlin Clark’s Injury Update: Indiana Fever Coach Speaks Out

Kate Rinklerk is currently sidelined due to an injury she sustained while the Indiana Fever played against the Connecticut Sun, just before the All-Star break.

Recent observations show she hasn’t returned to practice. Coach Stephanie White mentioned that there’s no set timeline for her return as Clark’s injured right groin hasn’t healed sufficiently for her to resume training.

“Until she’s able to practice, that’s really where we are,” White told reporters this Wednesday.

Adding to the situation, it appears Clark has developed a bone bruise in her left ankle during her recovery from the groin issue. Sources indicate that these ankle problems should not impact her recovery timeline.

Sophie Cunningham, another player on the team, will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn MCL. She shared some thoughts on Clark’s injury and recovery process. “She doesn’t even know when she’ll be back, and it’s just a day-by-day thing,” Cunningham noted on a recent podcast. “If she’s not in the WNBA now, remember, she’s still at a high level when she plays.” It’s a challenging situation for everyone involved.

Cunningham has faced her own troubles lately, being fined by the WNBA for the third time after conversations during her podcast. She emphasized that she hasn’t withheld any information regarding Clark’s status.

Clark’s return remains one of the WNBA’s major mysteries as the regular season draws to a close. This season has been tough for her; she’s missed 22 games due to three muscle injuries. It’s a stark contrast to her college career where she was consistently present for all games, even earning the Rookie of the Year title last season.

Despite these challenges, Indiana currently holds sixth place in the WNBA rankings and recently won the Commissioners Cup this season.
