Tiger Woods’ Potential Return to Golf
The ongoing speculation about Tiger Woods’ return to golf has been a persistent topic in the sport. Questions surrounding his comeback have been particularly prevalent since his DUI-related arrest in March.
However, we are now starting to gather hints about when he might actually return. Woods’s most recent significant golf outing occurred in March 2026 during a TGL event with his Jupiter Links teammates. Tragically, that same month, he faced legal issues from a DUI arrest in Florida. After completing a months-long rehabilitation program abroad, he reached a plea deal in September that resulted in reduced charges.
Tiger’s First Public Appearance Post-DUI
In early October, Woods was spotted hitting golf balls at one of his TGR Live events. Though the footage showed him only making a single swing, it fueled speculation about his potential return to competitive play.
Now that Woods is eligible to compete on the PGA Tour Champions circuit as he turns 50, a debut on the senior tour could definitely be on the table. Nevertheless, he’s never confirmed an intention to join the PGA Tour Champions.
This leads us to consider more likely scenarios for his return, each with supporting evidence.
A Possible Comeback in the Bahamas
Woods has traditionally hosted the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, which is slated for the first week of December 2026. This limited-field event could provide a perfect setting for his competitive return.
The tournament’s initial 20-player field was announced recently, but only 17 names are confirmed. The remaining three spots, all designated for tournament exemptions, will be announced later.
It’s conceivable that Woods could claim one of those spots for himself, though it’s important to note that he hasn’t actually played in the Hero World Challenge since 2023.
A Potential Return in TGL
The schedule for TGL in 2027 has yet to be released, but Woods has been named a returning player for his Jupiter Links team, joining Tom Kim, Max Homa, Akshay Bhatia, and Keith Mitchell. His inclusion on the initial roster suggests he intends to compete in some capacity.
It would certainly make sense for Woods to re-enter the golf arena via TGL, the indoor league he co-founded in 2022. If the league’s format follows the 2026 schedule, the new season might kick off at the end of December and run through late March. Woods’s last competitive appearance was at The Open in July 2024.
