Where Knicks roster stands after second-round playoff ouster

The Knicks were eliminated in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs for the second year in a row.

The following season, they lost to the Pacers in 7 games after losing in 6 games to the Heat.

Post reporter Zach Braziler breaks down the team’s performance player by player.

Donte DiVincenzo

Statistics for 2023-24: 15.5 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 2.7 APG, 40.1 3-point FG

Contract status: Just under $12 million per season for the remaining three years

breakdown: It was a career year for the former Villanova star, setting career highs in points, 3-point percentage, games played and minutes played at age 27.

After starting the year as a reserve, he became a starter and became the team record holder for most 3-point shots in a season with 283.

Julius Randle

2023-24 Stats: 24.0 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 5.0 APG, 47.2% FG

Contract status: He has one year left on the deal worth $30.32 million and a player option for $32.41 million in 2025-26.

breakdown: Randle, an All-Star for the third time in four seasons, was enjoying another outstanding year before dislocating his right shoulder on Jan. 27.

He spent two months rehabbing in hopes of returning in the playoffs, but ultimately required surgery.

The Knicks certainly could have used him against the Pacers.

josh hart

2023-24 Stats: 9.4 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 4.1 APG, 31% 3-point FG

Contract status: The remaining three years will be worth $19.51 million per season, with a team option for $22.37 million in 2027-28.

breakdown: No player on this roster better represents the Knicks’ toughness than the do-it-all guard.

Despite suffering from an abdominal strain in Game 7 against the Pacers, he played 37 minutes and currently ranks second among all postseason players in rebounds behind Nuggets MVP Nikola Jokic.

Statistics for 2023-24: 27.7 PPG, 6.7 APG, 3.6 RPG, 40.1% 3 point FG

Contract status: One year left for $24.96 million, with a player option for another $24.96 million in 2025-26.

breakdown: Since Brunson arrived two years ago, the Knicks have won two rounds of the playoffs and averaged 48.5 wins in the regular season.

Forget standout numbers, and there are many like them, but Brunson transformed a franchise with his selfless attitude, grinder work ethic, and dogged determination.

OG Anunoby

2023-24 Statistics: 14.1 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.5 APG, 39.4% 3-point FG

Contract status: Player option for next season is $19.93 million.

Breakdown: Anunoby was a perfect fit for the Knicks, a lockdown wing defender who could provide the space the Knicks desperately needed. Since joining him from the Raptors on Dec. 30, the Knicks have gone 26-6, including the playoffs, when Anunoby was healthy.

He might have still been able to play if he hadn’t torn his left hamstring in Game 2 against the Pacers.

The Knicks outscored opponents by 21.7 points per 100 possessions in the 23 games Anunoby played during the regular season.

Mitchell Robinson

2023-24 Statistics: 5.6 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 1.1 BPG, 57.5% FG

Contract status: He has two years remaining at $13.64 million per season.

breakdown: When healthy, Robinson protects the rim and is a force on offense and rebounding.

The problem is the aforementioned health condition.

He played in only 31 regular season games this year and missed the second round of the playoffs due to a stress fracture in his left ankle that required surgery.

Availability is a skill Robinson has yet to master.

Miles McBride

2023-24 Statistics: 8.3 PPG, 1.7 APG, 1.5 RPG, 41.0% 3-point FG

Contract status: The remaining three years are $4.33 million.

breakdown: The acquisition of OG Anunoby, who sent RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Raptors, created a role for McBride, and the young guard took advantage of the opportunity.

An improved shooter and strong defender, McBride established himself as a key part of the second unit and performed even better in the postseason.

His contract is a bargain.

Alec Burks

Statistics for 2023-24: 6.5 PPG, 1.7 RPG, 0.9 APG, 30.1% 3 Point FG

Contract status: unrestricted free agent

breakdown: The veteran guard was acquired from the Pistons before the trade deadline, but did not live up to expectations during the regular season.

However, after being injured in the second round of the playoffs, he averaged 14.8 points against the Pacers and gave the Knicks a much-needed offensive jolt.

Alec Burks gave life to the injury-hit Knicks late in the Pacers series, but he was ineffective in his second stint in New York before that. Charles Wenzelberg/New York Post

Isaiah Hartenstein

2023-24 Stats: 7.8 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 1.1 BPG, 64.4% FG

Contract status: unrestricted free agent

Breakdown: Best season ever as a pro.

The 7-foot Hartenstein showed his value on both ends of the floor, setting personal bests in starts, steals and rebounds.

He will be a significant loss in free agency.

Jericho Sims

Statistics for 2023-24: 2.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 0.4 BPG, 69.1% FG

Contract status: Team options for next year worth just under $2.1 million.

breakdown: The athletic but limited big man has taken a step back, having been bumped from Precious Achiuwa’s spot on manager Tom Thibodeau’s roster and barely played in the postseason.

shake milton

2023-24 Statistics: 1.8 PPG, 1.0 RPG, 0.7 APG, 44.4% FG

Contract status: unrestricted free agent

breakdown: As part of a deal with the Pistons that included Alec Burks and Bojan Bodganovic, Milton never carved out a role for himself with the Knicks.

Bojan Bogdanovic

2023-24 Stats: 10.4 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 0.9 APG, 37.0% 3-point field goal success rate

Contract status: Just over $19 million with one year remaining

breakdown: The sharp-shooting veteran struggled during the regular season after being traded to the Knicks, but began to show his shot-making value early in the postseason before suffering a season-ending left foot injury in Game 4 against the 76ers.

Precious Achiuwa

Statistics for 2023-24: 7.6 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.1 BPG, 52.5% FG

Contract status: restricted free agent

breakdown: As envisioned when Anunoby was signed, Achiuwa is an important piece of depth and has emerged as an off-the-bench option due to injuries to Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson.

jacob toppin

Statistics for 2023-24: 1.4 PPG, 0.8 RPG, 0.3 APG

Contract status: restricted free agent

breakdown: Obi Toppin’s younger brother is still a project in development, and his future may lie elsewhere.

Daquan Jeffries

Statistics for 2023-24: 7.6 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.1 BPG, 52.5% FG

Contract status: Team options for next year

breakdown: The 26-year-old wing has been with the Knicks in some capacity since 2022.

Jeffries appeared in 13 regular season games this year as an end-of-the-bench option.

Mamadi Diakité

Statistics for 2023-24: 0.0 PPG, 0.3 RPG, 0.3 SPG

Contract status: 1 year remaining, $2.27 million.

breakdown: The 6-foot-9 Diakito, who joined the team in early March, appeared in just three regular-season games with the Knicks.
