Dozens of Social Security Administration offices across the country are expected to close this year once the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is cut to the federal government.
Doge List has been published Of the approximately 800 real estate leases for federal offices, the organization is trying not to renew it.
According to general service management data obtained by Associated Pressthere are 47 Social Security Administration offices listed for closing, but some had proposed closing dates. 26 is scheduled to close this year.
Closures come when an agency says that individuals will no longer be able to verify their identity on the phone. People must either authenticate online or attend in-person visits to change their direct deposit information in search of Social Security benefits.
