White House adviser says Trump team provided 'significant support' in ceasefire deal

White House chief of national security adviser John Feiner said Sunday that President-elect Trump's team provided “significant support” to the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

“We had tremendous support from the Trump team. [have] We were very transparent about it. We've kept them informed,” Feiner told ABC News' Jonathan Karl on “This Week.”

“They sent members of the incoming team to the region, and the president said — the president-elect said some helpful things about the need to get this deal done,” he added.

On Sunday, a new ceasefire agreement came into effect, halting fighting in Gaza. The cessation of fighting in the region is the first step in a ceasefire agreement announced last Wednesday.

President Biden welcomed the deal Wednesday, saying it was “not easy” to reach.

The president added, “I've been working on foreign policy for decades.” “This was one of the toughest negotiations I've ever been through. We got to this point because Israel, with the support of the United States, put pressure on Hamas.”

“At the end of the day, it was our team that was at the helm of the negotiations with the support of President Biden,” Finner said on “This Week.”

Last Monday, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan spoke about the incoming Trump administration in an interview, saying the president would “direct them to work closely with the incoming team to ensure that different messages are not sent.” “He gave me a lot of money,” he said.

He added, “There was no gap in the United States' united front of, “This agreement is important, let's get it done.''''

The Hill has reached out to Trump's transition team for comment.
