The White House dismissed the ongoing impeachment inquiry against President Biden as “embarrassing” following Wednesday’s chaotic hearing.

The Republican effort stalled Wednesday after an eight-hour hearing failed to provide a clear path forward in the investigation into the Biden family’s murky ties to foreign business interests.

“That hearing was an embarrassment for House Republicans and a complete waste of time. It’s time to move on from this sad example,” White House Press Secretary Ian Sam said, according to The Hill. There are real issues that the public wants us to address.”

At the climax of the hearing, Representative James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, said the committee needed to hear from the president himself.

The president is unlikely to accede to the committee’s request for testimony.

Comer has indicated that he is likely to abandon plans to draft articles of impeachment against the president and instead file criminal charges with the Justice Department.
