White House communications director responds to Jimmy Kimmel's award suggestion for Trump

White House Director Criticizes Kimmel’s Remarks

On Friday, Stephen Chan, the communications director at the White House, slammed late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, calling him a “talentless loser.” This came after Kimmel jokingly suggested on his show that he would trade awards, including an Emmy, to President Trump in return for removing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from Minnesota.

Chan responded to Kimmel’s joke by saying, “Jimmy should hold on to them so he has something to pawn after being fired after receiving such bad reviews as a talentless loser.”

During a recent episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Kimmel humorously listed various awards he’s won over the years and quipped that giving Trump an award might be the only way to motivate him to act.

Kimmel’s comments followed an incident where Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Colina Machado presented Trump with a Nobel Peace Prize medal, citing his commitment to freedom.

The late-night host made fun of Trump’s enthusiasm while receiving the medal, saying, “It’s not every day you see a president yank a Nobel Prize from someone’s neck. He looked so happy—I mean, have you ever seen someone this thrilled about winning an award he didn’t even earn?”

In a comedic twist, Kimmel then began a mock negotiation. “Mr. President, I know it might be tough to refuse, but I have an offer,” he said playfully. “If you agree to withdraw ICE from Minneapolis, I’ll give you one of these trophies I’ve collected over the years.” He mentioned a variety of awards, ranging from an Emmy for Best Game Show Host to a Soul Train Award for “White Person of the Year.”

Kimmel concluded his pitch by offering to deliver some or all of the trophies personally to the Oval Office, hoping it would persuade Trump to leave the people of Minneapolis undisturbed.

ABC has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding the remarks.
