Kayla Tausche, a senior White House correspondent at CNN, is leaving the network for a new opportunity at CNBC.
She hasn’t disclosed her reasons for departing, as indicated in a farewell message obtained by a source. “I’m trying to chase the next big story,” the 38-year-old journalist mentioned to a colleague.
Tausche has not responded to inquiries for comment from either herself or CNN.
Previously, she was a correspondent and anchor at CNBC, where she covered the Biden administration and co-hosted various political events, including election night coverage.
From 2014 to 2017, she also co-hosted CNBC’s “Squawk Alley,” having joined the network in 2011.
CNN, lagging behind Fox in ratings, highlighted Tausche’s strong journalistic background at her hiring. Meanwhile, MSNBC is also a notable rival in demographic reach.
According to a statement from CNN during her hiring, Tausche’s diverse experience in economic, technological, and foreign policy reporting would enhance the network’s coverage as President Biden campaigns for re-election in 2024.
Earlier this year, the network expanded its White House team to strengthen coverage of the Trump administration.
CNN appointed Kaitlan Collins as a White House correspondent, who has taken on newfound responsibilities while continuing her primetime show, “The Source.” With her elevated role, she frequently finds herself central to significant presidential events.
On Thursday, Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN’s parent company, mentioned it was contemplating separating its cable properties to mitigate losses from cord-cutting trends.
