White House criticizes report about Trump possibly reducing Diddy's sentence: 'No truth at all'

White House Denies Claims of Potential Diddy Release

The White House issued a statement on Tuesday refuting a TMZ report suggesting that President Trump might grant clemency to rapper Diddy this week. The administration firmly stated, “The truth is zero,” emphasizing that had they reached out prior to the story’s publication, they would have gladly clarified the matter.

According to TMZ, a purported “senior White House official” indicated that the President was contemplating commuting Diddy’s sentence soon.

Interestingly, Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, hasn’t officially applied for a pardon yet. His team, however, has shown interest in an early release after he was sentenced recently to more than four years in prison for charges linked to human trafficking.

On another note, President Trump had brushed off inquiries about granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell earlier this month, mentioning, “There are a lot of people who have asked me for clemency,” and referred to Diddy as “Puff Daddy.”

Just last Friday, the President commuted the sentence of former Rep. George Santos, who had been convicted for identity theft and wire fraud, expressing sympathy for him.

Trump has made headlines in the past for granting pardons, including one to Lil Wayne days before leaving office in 2021, after the rapper supported the Republican Party’s outreach to Black voters. Notably, Diddy did not lend his support to Trump in the 2020 election, as he was vocal about wanting to see Trump removed from office.
