White House doctor pressured to convince Biden to take cognitive exam, publicize results

First appearance on FOXFollowing his poor debate performance and the intense scrutiny he has faced, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-N.Y.) is urging the White House physician to have President Biden undergo cognitive and neurological testing and to make the results public.

“It is in the best interest of the American people to encourage the White House physician to have President Biden undergo cognitive testing,” Graham said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Other prominent physicians have recommended similar testing, and the overwhelming majority of Americans are concerned about President Biden’s cognitive abilities. We hope that President Biden’s physicians will understand the necessity and wisdom of this testing and act accordingly. President Trump has indicated his willingness to undergo cognitive testing, and President Biden should do so as well.”

The South Carolina Republican made the request in a letter Friday to Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor.

“The public’s deep concern about President Biden’s mental health is well known,” Graham wrote.

He noted that Biden said Thursday night that he would get tested again if his doctor said he should.

“You have an obligation to require him to undergo such testing and to make the results public. Our national security, the welfare of the American people, and our global standing demand it,” Graham told O’Connor.

The letter comes as Democrats continue to rebel against their party leader and call for him to step down so someone else can face former President Trump in the November election.

Despite calls for him to step down, Biden has repeatedly insisted he plans to continue campaigning, to the dismay of some in his party.

What’s more, the president’s polling has been trending downward amid growing skepticism about Biden, and lower-tier districts are tight enough for Republicans to win. The nonpartisan political forecasting site Cook Political Report on Thursday changed Michigan’s Senate race from “Democrat-leaning” to “close,” noting that Biden could be a drag on other Democrats.

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on Graham’s letter.
