White House holds session for kids on ‘Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day’

Press Secretary Holds Special Briefing for Kids

On May 20, 2025, Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt organized a unique briefing called “Take My Son and Daughter to Work Day,” where she engaged with children of staff and journalists. The briefing room was only about half full, hosting kids ranging from toddlers to approximately 11 years old.

The children asked a variety of questions, covering everything from fun topics like candy to more serious matters. There was speculation that some parents may have nudged their kids to ask certain questions, perhaps for their own benefit.

One child asked Leavitt about how much candy the 47th president eats in a day.

“A fair amount of candy,” Leavitt replied, chuckling. She added that he enjoys pink Starburst and Tootsie Rolls.

Another child was curious about Trump’s favorite McDonald’s order.

“He loves McDonald’s burgers and fries. Who doesn’t?” Leavitt responded with a smile.

One inquisitive kid asked how many people Trump had fired.

Leavitt noted that just one person had left, but everyone else has been working well together.

When asked what “superpower” she thought Trump might want, Leavitt jokingly said, “I think I could snap my fingers and solve all of our country’s problems just like that.” This seemed to draw some chuckles from both the kids and the adults present.

In a light-hearted moment, a child inquired which news outlet Leavitt disliked the most. She carefully replied, “It depends on the day,” which brought a few giggles from the audience.

This special event followed a gathering in the East Garden with First Lady Melania Trump and some children. President Trump also made an appearance, waving and smiling while even showing kids how to dance to his favorite song, “YMCA,” which added to the lively atmosphere.
