White House Sends JD Vance to Strengthen Affordability Communication

Vice President Vance to Visit Pennsylvania Following Trump

Vice President J.D. Vance is set to make a trip to Pennsylvania, just a week after President Donald Trump’s visit, which aimed to highlight the administration’s message on affordability, according to two sources familiar with the plans.

President Trump was in Wilkes-Barre last Tuesday, kicking off a yearlong tour to promote his economic policies. Vance is scheduled to speak near Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, December 16, focusing on the administration’s commitment to affordability, as mentioned by a spokesperson.

The spokesperson noted, “President Trump has achieved significant progress in tackling the affordability crisis left by the Democrats. With historic tax cuts for working families and over $18 trillion invested in America, the positive impacts of Trump’s economic strategies are just beginning, and we’re looking forward to further progress in the coming year.”

They also expressed hope that Vice President Vance would underscore the administration’s priority of making America affordable again.

During his 90-minute speech, Trump told supporters that the economy is showing signs of improvement, reassuring them that, particularly in light of declining food and egg prices, consumers should feel more secure.

Additionally, Trump reiterated his claim that affordability is a “hoax” created by Democrats, accusing them of being responsible for the economic challenges. The spokesperson indicated that Vance is likely to support Trump’s statements about the economy and cost of living.

Following the November elections, where Democrats secured key wins while pushing the affordability agenda, Republicans have been reconsidering their approach to this issue.

A recent poll from Politico found that 46% of Americans view the current cost of living as the worst in recent memory, with 37% of Trump voters agreeing. This poll surveyed 2,098 adults between November 14 and 17 and had a margin of error of 2%.

Former President Joe Biden similarly traveled the country during his tenure to promote “Bidenomics.” However, as public sentiment about the economy soured, the administration struggled to convince voters of a positive outlook, ultimately impacting his presidency.

Reflecting on the egg supply issues, Trump shared a story from last Tuesday: “They said, ‘Sir, we’re going to buy plastic eggs this year. We don’t have enough eggs.’ I told them, ‘We’re going to buy regular eggs.’ By Easter, there will be so many eggs, we won’t know what to do with them. And we didn’t. Thanks to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, egg prices have dropped dramatically—down 80% since March.”
