Trump’s New Flagpoles at the White House
President Donald Trump’s team has kicked off the installation of two new flagpoles at the White House, personally funded by the president himself.
As of Wednesday, work has begun on the flagpoles located on both the North and South Lawns.
“The White House opened around 1800, and before that there are just a few. I’ve always said, why is there a flagpole from grass?” Trump remarked.
“This is only exciting if you’re under construction,” he added, watching the progress. “Look, you have to make it perfectly straight, and once it’s perfect, they pour sand and will be there for 100 years.”
Trump took a moment to tour the construction site and converse with some of the workers.
“I don’t know them, but I love them and they must have voted for all Trump,” he joked on Monday. “I’ve managed to get these people back to work, they’re making a fortune,” he laughed.
He also quipped about someone in the group trying to attract film producers, saying, “Harvey saw a better day, so it’s not Harvey, but it’s someone and says, ‘That guy is the right fit for the movie.’
Earlier in April, Trump announced plans for these two grand 100-foot flagpoles on the White House grounds.
The president also emphasized that taxpayer money wouldn’t be used for this initiative, explaining that it was a personal desire of his to have the new poles erected.
Moreover, Trump has noted future ambitions for the White House, which may include renovations to the Rose Garden, new concrete platforms, ballrooms, and upgrades to the Oval Office.
