The White Lotus Heads to Southern France
It looks like “The White Lotus” is making its way to southern France for Season 4.
At the 2025 Emmy Awards, stars Parker Posey and Jason Isaacs shared this exciting news on the red carpet. Posey, 56, mentioned, “It is currently located in the south of France. That’s the start of Season 4.”
However, she also added, “I don’t know if I’m there or not,” referring to her character Victoria Ratriv from the previous Thai-based season.
Isaacs, who portrayed Victoria’s husband Timothy, confirmed, “It’s Southern France” during a conversation with Entertainment of the Night.
Still, Isaacs joked about the uncertainty of the show’s returning characters, saying, “I don’t think they’re back. They’d be lucky if they could stay with Howard Johnson.” This seems to hint at some changes in the storyline, with younger characters played by Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola, and Sarah Catherine Hook possibly not returning.
Despite the previous seasons winning acclaim at the Emmys, “The White Lotus” didn’t take home awards this time, with seven actors, including Isaacs and Posey, nominated in the Drama Support category but none winning. The series also lost the title of outstanding drama series to “The Pitt.”
Of 23 nominations, Season 3 did win a Creative Arts Emmy for original main title theme music, awarded to composer Cristobal Tapia Devia, who departed the series after a dispute with creator Mike White.
As for Season 4’s location, Deadline reported earlier this month that it would indeed be in France, though HBO and White haven’t officially confirmed it yet. The show’s first season was set in Hawaii, while Season 2 took place in Italy.
HBO Programming Executive Francesca Orsi had previously hinted at possible European settings for future seasons. Meanwhile, executive producer David Bernad expressed excitement about how Mike White is approaching Season 4, indicating it will tackle relevant cultural themes.
