The Chicago White Sox suffered their 100th loss on Sunday and are on track to have their worst season in major league history with 31 games remaining.
The loss came at the hands of the Detroit Tigers, 9-4. Andy Ibañez hit a home run and had three RBIs in the Tigers’ victory. Colt Keith of Detroit also had three RBIs.

Andrew Vaughn was valiant for the White Sox, scoring one home run and driving in two RBIs, while Jonathan Cannon gave up five runs and eight hits in four innings.
The White Sox need to finish with a 12-19 record to avoid matching the 1962 New York Mets (40-120-1), who hold the modern record for most losses in a season. The Cleveland Spiders hold the all-time record with 20-134 in 1899.

Only the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics reached 100 losses in fewer games than the White Sox, who at one point that season had a record of 29 wins, 100 losses and one tie.
The most Chicago lost in a season was 56-106 in 1970. In 1932 they went 49-102-1 for a winning percentage of .325.

Chicago fired Pedro Grifol on Aug. 8 amid a series of poor performances. The team named Grady Sizemore as interim manager and went 3-11 under him.
