Whitney Purvis, known from “16 and Pregnant,” is mourning the loss of her son, Weston, who passed away at just 16 years old.
The 33-year-old former reality star took to social media on Monday to share a heartfelt tribute to her “beautiful son,” revealing that he had died earlier that day.
“This is incredibly hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. He was only 16. Life feels so cruel and unfair,” she expressed.
“Yeah, my baby is gone, and I’m lost. He was perfect. This truly feels like a nightmare that has come true.”
Purvis, who made her debut on MTV in 2009, continued, “How do you keep going after losing a child? I can’t wrap my head around this. I just wish it wasn’t real. I want to hold him again.”
“God, I love you so much. You were my heart. I was so proud of the young man you became. I don’t know how to go on without you. Rest in peace, my angel.”
While she hasn’t revealed the exact cause of Weston’s death, his stepmother, Amy Gorsa, mentioned he had been facing “several health issues,” like diabetes.
“He wasn’t breathing. We tried CPR and called for help,” she explained, noting that they attempted to wake him around 7 a.m.
“The paramedics also tried, but he was taken to a hospital in Gordon County, Georgia, where he was declared dead,” she added.
“We are completely heartbroken and shocked. It was totally unexpected,” Gorsa shared. “Losing a child is the most painful experience I can imagine, and I hope to never face it again.”
She requested that people keep their family and Whitney in their thoughts and prayers.
Purvis mentioned that autopsies would be conducted in the coming days.
In a follow-up post later that day, she shared a photo of herself with Weston, writing, “My baby Weston, rest in peace. I love you forever, precious. I can’t understand why life is so cruel. You will always be my baby.”
Whitney welcomed Weston in 2009 along with her then-boyfriend, Weston Luis Gotha, during the first season of “16 and Pregnant.”
She later had a second son, River, in 2014, but the couple split not long after.
Purvis has faced challenges, including losing custody of her children due to legal issues, as reported in 2024.
Weston Sr. has had his own run-ins with the law, including driving offenses and other incidents.
