Who are the best players in the 2024 Cricket World Cup

In an effort to grow cricket in the United States, the newly constructed Nassau County Stadium at Eisenhower Park will host parts of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup starting this week.

The event features some of the world’s most famous athletes, even if you’ve never heard of them, and the temporary 34,000-seat stadium at Eisenhower Park is expected to be packed to capacity with millions of fans from around the world.

These talented cricketers and international stars are worth keeping an eye on throughout the rest of the World Cup.

Rabindra Jediya India

India will be under the direction of coach Rahul Dravid when they compete in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024 and it’s no surprise that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is the centrepiece of Dravid’s squad for the tournament.

Jedi has been dubbed a “rock star” by Australian cricketer Shane Warne, and that moniker rings true on the field as well.

This all-round slugger bats left-handed, plays accurate left-arm spin and has a tenacious style from defence.

He has another item in his arsenal – the symbolic blessing of the sword, which he will be seen twirling every time he scores a hundred or a fifty.

Jasprit Bumrah, India

Another force helping India in their quest to become the so-called King of the Hill is right-arm fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

Dominating his rivals, Bumrah has emerged as one of the best bowlers in the world.

He is currently ranked second in the ICC Test bowling rankings with 847 points, and Bumrah’s opponents have struggled to read and react to his unconventional high-arm action.

Bumrah bowls at an average speed of 142kph and can drop the ball quickly while maintaining his pace.

South Africa will be looking to lift their first trophy since 1998 at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024.

Wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaassen is one of their assets spearheading the attack.

He is known for his high-octane batting besides his exceptional wicket-keeping skills. The 32-year-old just finished a blistering 2023 season with a record hundred for the Durban Supergiants in SA20, a major milestone for any batsman.

Klaassen went on to score two more centuries that year, becoming the first player to score a century in Major League Cricket.

“What has changed in my career is that I now play every ball as it comes and to maintain that mindset, I don’t look back at what I did with the previous ball or think about what I’m going to do with the next ball,” Klaassen said in an interview with Planet Sports.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, India

Young, intelligent and mature – these are the words that describe Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal.

At just 22 years old, Jaiswal has made it clear that he is worthy of being named in the squad for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

He crossed the 1,000-run mark in Test cricket in just 16 innings, becoming the second-fastest Indian to do so after Vinod Kambli, who achieved the feat in 14 innings.
