Who could replace Elise Stefanik in House GOP leadership? What we know

Competition is brewing within the House of Representatives after the No. 4 House Republican leader was selected for a post in the new Trump administration.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) has been elevated to the role of ambassador to the United Nations next year, prompting lawmakers to fight to fill her post in Wednesday's internal party leadership election.

At least three Republicans are currently running to fill her role, and two others have expressed interest, sources said.

The House Republican Conference Chair will be responsible for developing and overseeing the House Republican messaging strategy and setting up weekly meetings.
