Who is Michele Singer Reiner, the spouse of the cherished filmmaker Rob Reiner?

Michelle Singer Reiner, who was married to renowned film director Rob Reiner, had a significant career as a photographer. One of her notable achievements was capturing the original cover photo for Donald Trump’s book, *The Art of the Deal*.

On Sunday afternoon, police were called to their home in Hollywood and discovered the couple deceased, with what appeared to be stab wounds.

As the investigation into this shocking double murder unfolds, much of the focus is on Rob Reiner, the director behind *The Princess Bride*, though Michelle’s contributions to photography and Hollywood are also noteworthy.

How the couple met

The couple crossed paths during the filming of *When Harry Met Sally* in 1989. Rob later mentioned that this experience significantly influenced the film’s iconic ending.

“I’ve been married for 10 years. I was single for 10 years, and I had no idea how to be with someone,” he reflected. “That’s when *When Harry Met Sally* came to life; it was about two people who meet after a long time and then break up.”

Initially, the film didn’t feature Harry and Sally ending up together. But after meeting Michelle, Rob felt inspired to change it to the beloved ending that fans know today.

“But then I met Michele, and I thought, Okay, that makes sense,” he remarked.

Their relationship blossomed into marriage in 1989, coinciding with the film’s release. Together, they welcomed three children: Jake in 1991, Nick in 1993, and Romy in 1997.

Singer Reiner’s work as a photographer

Before her marriage to Rob, Michelle had already made a name for herself in photography, including her work on Trump’s *The Art of the Deal*. She also contributed her skills to the “Mystery Discs” video game and later worked on his 1990 film *Misery*, based on a Stephen King story.

Cast and production credits

In addition to her photography, Michelle made a brief appearance in the 1994 Steve Martin film *Mixed Nuts* and produced several of Rob’s projects. This included works like *Shock and Owe* and *Albert Brooks: Defending My Life*, the latter earning an Emmy nomination.

Moreover, she produced the documentary *God & Country*, which explored Christian nationalism in the U.S., as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Investigation

Los Angeles police arrived at the couple’s residence around 3:40 p.m. and found them both dead, labeling the incident as an “obvious homicide.”

The couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, is currently considered a person of interest in the investigation. Sources suggest that a knife may have been involved in the attack.
