Drake Maye, the quarterback for the Patriots, has quickly become a fan favorite, but he’s not the only one capturing hearts in Foxborough. When the Patriots picked him third overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, his wife, Ann Michael May, was warmly welcomed by fans, who affectionately tagged her as the “First Lady of New England.”
Here’s a little more about May’s biggest cheerleader.
High School Sweethearts
Ann Michael and Drake have been an item since they were just 12 years old, eventually heading to UNC together, which she once shared on TikTok.
The couple got married on June 21, 2025, at Grandfather Golf and Country Club in Linville, North Carolina. They announced their engagement earlier that January with a lovely beach proposal.
Interestingly, they celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary in October 2024.
A Rising Social Media Star
Ann Michael graduated from UNC’s School of Business in May 2025, where she minored in entrepreneurship and conflict management, according to her LinkedIn profile. After college, she moved to Boston to be with Drake.
During the 2025 regular season, she gained significant traction on social media, especially after a baking video went viral on TikTok. Around the same time, Drake was performing exceptionally well, making waves in the MVP conversation.
In January 2026, she witnessed Drake lead the Patriots to victory against the Broncos in the AFC Championship, securing a spot in Super Bowl LX.
That month, she also kicked off a new show with NBC Sports Boston called “Beyond Bakemas,” with the inaugural episode featuring Barstool Sports founder and dedicated Patriots fan Dave Portnoy.
At the time of the Super Bowl, Ann Michael had amassed 520,000 followers on TikTok and worked with several brands including Away Travel and Hello Fresh. Dunkin’ even dubbed her the “Queen of the North.”
Passionate About Pilates
Ann Michael teaches reformer Pilates at Higher Ground Fitness in Massachusetts. She started hosting Pilates classes around Super Bowl week in February 2026, showcasing her enthusiasm on her Instagram Story.
Competitive Spirit
Drake referred to Ann Michael as a “great athlete” in a press conference before the AFC title game in January 2026. He described her competitive nature, whether they’re playing board games—or attempting to, as he’s not quite up for them. They even started playing tennis together during the offseason, where she eagerly participates in any competition.
In high school, she was quite active, serving as team captain for varsity softball, field hockey, and cheerleading.
A Sports Family Background
Ann Michael hails from a family with a soccer background. Her younger brother, Tad Hudson, previously played at UNC and was a backup quarterback during the 2023 season before moving to Coastal Carolina University. Her father also played football at Wofford College.
