Whoopi Goldberg Joins Italian Soap Opera

Whoopi Goldberg, the actress and co-host of “The View,” announced in a social media video that she is set to join the cast of the Italian soap opera “Un Posto al Sole.” In the video, shared on Friday, she expressed her excitement about this new venture, saying, “I just wanted to say how happy I am to be in the cast of UN Post-Alsore.” With the beautiful Italian coastline as a backdrop, she shared her enthusiasm, noting, “They know it’s a crazy idea, I know it’s a crazy idea, but what a great thing. So I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited.”

She also acknowledged her imperfect Italian, humorously adding, “But we solved that.” The announcement was made through Fremantle Italia’s official Instagram account, emphasizing the show’s longstanding history, as it first premiered in 1996 and has been a staple of Italian television ever since.

Goldberg’s participation in the show will be part of a special storyline, appearing in multiple episodes slated for release in 2026. When discussing the series’ premise, it’s framed around the complex lives intertwined within the “Paladini Palace,” featuring themes of love and betrayal set against the backdrop of the Gulf of Naples.

Goldberg has often been in the headlines for her political commentary on “The View.” Recently, she stirred some discussions by comparing aspects of life in the U.S. to Iran. However, she originally made her mark in the entertainment industry, proudly holding multiple prestigious awards like an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

In addition to her recent announcement, her creativity has led her to explore comic books, co-writing one focused on a black superhero grandmother experiencing menopause.
