Whoopi Goldberg Critiques Obama on Democratic Strategy
“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg expressed her frustration on Tuesday regarding former President Barack Obama’s recent remarks, urging Democrats to “strengthen” while addressing President Donald Trump. She felt that instead of just criticizing his policies during a donor event on Friday, Obama reprimanded the party for what he called “whining” about Trump.
Goldberg, visibly upset, remarked that both Obama and billionaire Mark Cuban were misdirecting their criticisms when they should be evaluating their messaging. “Let’s remember who was out there during the big marches,” she stated. “People didn’t focus on themselves but shouted out about their rights and the future for their children.” She added that it was a collective effort, implying that the blame should not rest solely on Democrats.
Goldberg also noted that the Democratic message had the potential to resonate with Americans, referencing protests that occurred on June 14th. Anna Navarro chimed in, disputing the narrative that Trump was just deporting children of undocumented immigrants rather than criminals, although she acknowledged that some kids had been affected.
Navarro further vented, “People say Trump is awful, and honestly, it feels good to say that.” Meanwhile, Obama admitted to being “shocked” by the inaction and concerns voiced by Democrats, as reported by The Times. He suggested that the party might need to begin “navel pouring” and take a stronger stance.
Co-host Sarah Haynes criticized the Democrats for their lack of a thorough immigration plan. She pointed out that merely protesting against ICE and sanctuary cities wasn’t enough. Referring to recent violent protests in response to ICE raids at a marijuana farm in California, she emphasized that voters are looking for practical solutions, yet she hadn’t seen any proposal from Democrats.
During these protests, demonstrators reportedly attacked law enforcement with rocks and Molotov cocktails. The Department of Homeland Security disclosed that its agents had apprehended a number of serious offenders connected to drugs, violence, and other crimes.
