Whoopi Goldberg’s Controversial Comments on Super Bowl
Whoopi Goldberg made a peculiar suggestion regarding Super Bowl attendees, recommending they adopt a “Latin accent” and get a tan to, perhaps, ease the atmosphere.
This statement came during Monday’s episode of “The View,” as Goldberg discussed a comment made by co-host Joy Behar about a plan shared by Kristi Noem last week.
Goldberg remarked, “Kristi Noem, who has been under fire, is considering attending the Super Bowl when Bad Bunny is performing.”
“Do you think she would go if it was someone like Garth Brooks, Eminem, or Taylor Swift?” she inquired further.
Goldberg attempted to grasp the situation, questioning, “So, she attends the Super Bowl and puts everything together, but how does she identify who’s who?”
Behar responded, “Because the Supreme Court has allowed them to question those who have Spanish accents or darker skin.”
Goldberg then added, “Everyone, let’s grab some cocoa butter and soak up the sun. This might be our only chance. Let’s give them a Latin accent and see if it helps with identification.”
This strange suggestion received mixed reactions, with some audience members offering applause.
Behar chimed in, “You know, it’s a pretty good idea. There was a time during the Nazi occupation when people in Norway or Denmark wore Jewish stars, making it hard to distinguish who was Jewish.”
Goldberg’s comments referenced Noem’s recent video in which she claimed NFL officials would be unable to “sleep at night” after selecting Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show.
Bad Bunny, known as Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, notably refrained from performing in the U.S. this year to protest Trump’s immigration policies.
Noem also mentioned that ICE was present during her NFL Championship Game performance and challenged Bad Bunny for not agreeing to perform for an American audience.
She stated, “They can’t sleep at night because they’re unsure of their beliefs. They’re so weak, they try to cover it up.”
Noem further expressed that the Department of Homeland Security is accountable for ensuring safety at the upcoming event, scheduled to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
“We will enforce the laws,” she asserted, suggesting that only law-abiding Americans should attend the Super Bowl.
On a related note, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt responded on Friday, clarifying that there are currently “no concrete plans” to deploy ICE during the Super Bowl.
Leavitt remarked, “As far as I know, there’s no definite arrangement for that at present.” She further emphasized that the administration will continue to prioritize the arrest and deportation of illegal immigrants deemed criminals.
