Whoopi Goldberg Responds to Epstein Email Controversy
Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of “The View,” has spoken out regarding her emails discovered in the Jeffrey Epstein documents, although her defense has drawn criticism.
Goldberg had sought permission to use Epstein’s private jet to attend a charity event for the Whitefeather Foundation in Monaco back in 2013, as highlighted in an email.
“People actually believe I was with him. It’s like, honey, come on,” Goldberg remarked, expressing frustration over the public’s assumptions.
She explained that her request was well-documented: “In the name of transparency…my name is on the file. Yes. So what does it say? ‘Whoopi needs a plane to go to Monaco. John Lennon’s charity’—it should say ‘Julian Lennon’s charity’—is paying for it. They don’t want to use a chartered plane, so they’re looking for a private owner.” She emphasized that all details were provided in the email.
Co-host Sunny Hostin added, “I think they said, ‘No, thank you.’” The show displayed this email but opted not to zoom in, likely to avoid revealing the date it was sent. This comes after Epstein had previously accepted a plea deal for solicitation charges.
Goldberg also mentioned the implications of being included on the list, stating, “You used to need to know the facts before you said anything,” and commenting on how people often misinterpret her involvement.
Co-host Joy Behar noted, “But Trump has been on the list 38,000 times. Come on!”
Goldberg reiterated her point, clarifying, “I can’t talk to him, but I’m talking about me because I’m being dragged. People actually believe I was with him. It’s like, honey, come on.” The discussions continue to stir debate, especially considering past criticisms of public figures linked to Epstein.
