Why Daniel Jones’ ex-Giants teammates are rooting for him

The Giants scrutinised the options available at the NFL Free Agency, so there was one quarterback the Giants absolutely never considered. This was a natural conclusion, despite the fact that players could be considered young, more athletic than athletic, without any off-field or character issues and having upsides.

They all sound like attractive qualities, but Daniel Jones was never on the Giants' radar, not after he released him last November. They certainly had no intention of bringing him back to where he was deemed such a failure.

Jones, 28, has not been in the open market for a long time. He had the opportunity to stay with the Vikings, but thought that his first round draft pick JJ McCarthy was a temporary opportunity to win and secure a starting job in Minnesota. Jones chose to sign with the Colts.

It was a clever move from Jones. The Vikings want to see what McCarthy (the 10th pick of last year) can do. The Colts already know what Richardson can and can't do, and there are more on the “cannot” list at this point in his development.
