Why Giants’ meaningless finale is important to Drew Lock

PHILADELPHIA — Drew Lock is not under contract for 2025 and will make his fifth start of the season when the Giants take on the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, but he could make an impression before heading to his free agency. He acknowledges that this is his last chance. Agency again.

“You want to make a great game every time you play,” Locke said. “In order to stay relevant and continue playing football, we need to get 17 people together. Prolong the career as long as possible. The only way to make it possible is to put good things on tape If you get the chance, go out there and express yourself to the fullest. That's the plan every week.”

Lock has struggled to execute that plan in his first three starts this season, recording one touchdown pass and four interceptions (three pick-sixes) in three losses, but he did so in a 4-5 loss against the Colts last week. He gave a breakthrough performance in a 33-game victory. Lock threw four touchdown passes and ran for more points.

“Good and healthy. Feeling good after last week,” Locke said. “I’m looking forward to getting out there and getting a chance to play again.”

Lock, 28, is a five-year NFL veteran. He was signed as a backup to Daniel Jones and came to the Giants on a $5 million, one-year contract. It's hard to imagine the Giants doing well enough to bring him back this season.

With the Browns losing to the Ravens on Saturday, the Giants no longer have a chance to get the No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft.

Add OLB Kayvon Thibodeau to the list of players who want to continue playing under Brian Daboll. In 2025.

Wide receivers Darius Slayton and Wan'Dale Robinson told the Post last week that they believe Daboll deserves a return.

“I mean, he's a great coach,” Thibodeau said. “I love him. I think he's a player's coach. I think he has a great philosophy. Sometimes things don't work out, depending on the season or other reasons. I love the organization and the coaching. I had full confidence in it. So I don't know how things will change, but things will happen as expected.”

In his third season, Robinson had a career-high 83 receptions and an NFL-high 32 third-down catches.

3-time Pro Bowler Amon Ra St. Brown Then the Lions had 30 receptions on third down.

With Evan Neal (ribs/hip) out, the Giants will use different offensive line combinations for the 10th time this season. The Patriots also use 10 different O-line combos, one of the best in the NFL.

The likely starter in Neal's place at right tackle is Chris Hubbard or Tire Phillips.

Hubbard appeared in three games this season as a substitute starter at right tackle. Phillips started 14 games for the Giants over the past two seasons.

He tore his quadriceps late last season and re-signed to the practice squad in November.
