Jason Kelce may have a disagreement with Eagles GM Howie Roseman.
The former All-Pro center, who announced his retirement from the NFL on March 4 after spending his entire 13-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles, announced his retirement following the news that Giants running back Saquon Barkley would be leaving. He revealed new “regrets” about his decision. He signs a three-year contract with the Eagles.
In his and Travis Kelsey’s latest work Podcast “New Heights”, Jason explained that after the Berkeley news, some people asked, “Jason, are you really retiring?” and that “social media is constant.”
“Yeah, I’m pretty positive,” Jason said before joking. [‘I’m] I’m a little upset. [Eagles GM] Howie [Roseman] I waited until I retired to make a move like this! ”
“But, you know, it’s okay. It’s going to work. Listen, adding weapons like this just expands the ways we can attack defenses…We have a great offensive line. We have a great offensive line. You can put running backs in good situations and put them in these one-on-one spots.
“…I think Saquon is going to do a pretty good job of that this year. He’s going to make the last guy miss or make a tackle and get a few extra yards and that’s what you want with these running backs. These are players who can extend plays and be explosive or do something special when given the chance. This is a difference at the running back position that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in the NFL. He is one of the best players.”
Travis went on to praise the talent on the Eagles’ roster for next season.
“I couldn’t be more bullish…” Kelce said. “Here’s what I regret. When I retired, I knew I was going to have a great season with the Philadelphia Eagles. And it sucks, it really does. I would love to be a part of it, too. I wish I could do that.”
Barkley’s contract is for three years and $37.75 million. According to NFL NetworkThis is one of the richest current contracts for a running back, behind Christian McCaffrey (49ers), Alvin Kamara (Saints) and Jonathan Taylor (Colts).
“I think that’s for sure. I think that’s just the biggest news,” Jason said. “We’ve seen firsthand throughout his career how good he played for the New York Giants and even at Penn State. This guy is a believable player everywhere he goes. He was an incredible person.”
The Chiefs’ All-Pro tight end added that Barkley is a “world-class athlete,” and Jason explained why he believes Barkley is a good fit for Philadelphia.
“It’s a huge deal with Philadelphia, and we’re happy with the deal with Saquon,” he said. “I’m not trying to talk trash about this. You’re coming to a team that has a legitimate offensive line that’s been established for a long time. You’ve been there for a very long time and almost every running back I know Saquon is getting into a good situation in Philadelphia because he’s coming to a coach who has proven success running back.
“But that’s still not the worst way to get to it — hey, I’m a Philadelphian. I get to watch it and celebrate like everyone else, and I’m excited because it’s going to be so good.” I’m here.”
The brothers added that there are some rivals in the division who aren’t happy with the news of Barkley signing with the Eagles, including Giants great Tiki Barber and former Cowboys All-Pro receiver Dez Bryant.

“‘Saquon the Eagle, I shook my head,'” Bryant said in response to the news, Jason said.
In a recent article on the daily WFAN radio show, Barkley said that Barkley is “dead for us” after the running back agreed to a three-year deal with the Giants’ NFC East rival.
Berkeley, 27 years old; fired back at Barber In his post, X called the former wideout “a hater since he came to New York.”
Travis and Jason believed Barber was joking, but explained that he stood at Barkley’s bat.
“Listen, I vouch for Saquon,” Jason said. “Everything I’ve heard from the Giants locker room, everything I’ve heard from people who know him, this is a guy who puts the team first and is willing to do whatever it takes.”
Barkley’s deal with the Eagles came after the Giants opted not to place the franchise tag on Barkley for the second straight year.
The two teams reached a revised one-year deal last season after a brief holdout.
Barkley started 14 games last season with 962 rushing yards and six touchdowns, and 41 receptions for 280 yards and four touchdowns.
