Parsons Reflects on Facing Prescott in Upcoming Game
Micah Parsons, the Green Bay Packers’ Edge Rusher, shares mixed feelings about sacking Dak Prescott this Sunday night. It’s an emotional moment for him as he returns to Dallas for the first time since the Cowboys traded him away before the season began, ending their four-year collaboration after failed contract negotiations.
During a recent chat, Parsons kept his focus somewhat light regarding the upcoming game. He mentioned to the Associated Press how tough it would be to compete against his former teammate. “It’s going to be painful,” he said. “He’s always been a great leader for me. But you know how it goes. He’s mentioned before that if we ever match up, it would be a fantastic battle, so I’m looking forward to what Sunday holds.”
The fourth-week matchup has become quite the spectacle, especially after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones pulled off a surprising trade. As it stands, the Packers and Cowboys are experiencing significantly different fortunes this season.
Coming off a loss to the Browns, Green Bay’s record stands at 2-1, while the Cowboys linger at 1-2, facing defensive challenges that Parsons has been grappling with since the trade.
The Cowboys’ defense has struggled, allowing an average of 397.7 yards per game—ranking them as the third worst in the league. They’ve also given up 288 yards per contest through the air, which is the highest in the NFL.
Parsons, now seemingly a pivotal piece of the Packers’ defense with 1.5 sacks and five tackles in the first three games, tries to keep his emotions in check regarding the Dallas game. “We accepted our fate a few weeks ago when the trade happened. For me, it’s just about playing another game and giving my all. Some media and fans might blow it out of proportion,” he said, adding, “But I see it as just another game at AT&T Stadium.”
