Why Mike Vrabel addressed Patriots 'rats' as speculation arises

Patriot Soccer Faces a ‘Rat’ Issue

It seems there’s a rat situation developing in the new era of Patriot soccer, and everyone seems to be talking about it.

The narrative began with new coach Mike Vrabel, who shared a gif from “The Departed” after learning that recipient Ja’lynn Polk would need end-of-season surgery. When asked for more details, Vrabel explained his reasoning.

“I love how you take everything I say and turn it into a story. You’re all a bit anxious,” Vrabel told the media. “There are mice everywhere, whether inside or outside the building, and I appreciate the information flow.”

“We felt like leaning in. It was a time of frustration—we couldn’t act on anything, so we thought we’d offer some entertainment. We were ready to head back to Foxboro,” he added.

According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Polk’s surgery was necessary, leading him to be placed on injured reserve.

Schultz tweeted that opting for surgery was viewed as the best path forward, aiming for a full recovery in 2026.

Boston Globe’s Benvolin suggested that “the rat” might refer to an agent involved.

Meanwhile, Joey Merle, from 98.5 Sports Hub, expressed his view on the situation, implying that the rat issue points toward Patriot executive Elliot Wolf.

Vrabel expressed curiosity about where the local buzz was coming from, saying, “If we had a rat sheet, yeah, rat No. 1 would be Elliot Wolf. The draft picks aren’t promising, so if Ja’lynn Polk is out for another year, why should we trust the national reporters?”

Vrabel took over coaching for the Patriots after former head coach Jerod Mayo, who led the team to a disappointing 4-13 record last season.
